FIADANANA BE RESORT MADAGASCAR

Madagascar is a country with its unique landscape, nature, and culture. The island is still not heavily influenced by human activity and does not offer the hustle of a big city. Instead one can find peace here and discover the beauty of surrounding nature.

The design of our holiday resort here tried to reflect that. We worked with simple shapes for our buildings, made from natural materials, with structurally simple constructions with the aim to involve local workers in construction process. Buildings will be airy, sunny, and closely connected with the outdoors. In the communal areas, we opted for lightweight pavilion-style roofing and visually light structures.

Urban design in general was based on existing topography, minimizing alterations to natural landscape expression and placing buildings according to terrain. This simultaneously maximized views even from buildings that are farther from sea.

The proposed complex includes various types of buildings such as private villas, dining places, mixed-use buildings, apartments or leisure zones.

We kept the buildings low, to keep the original building style. We used flat roofs in our desing to keep great views of sea.

In areas with minimal elevation, we created two centers - one more active and one quieter. Additionally, we faced them towards their centers to direct noise inwards, preventing its spread to the accommodation areas. All buildings open up to sea views. The complex is designed so that service passes through one main route and several pedestrian paths. Cars will not drive through the complex; smaller service vehicles will provide transportation for visitors. The zone ends with service piers, where we also proposed tranquil and entertainment areas. One pier separates the beach from the residential villas, another provides the opportunity to stroll along the beach or relax on sun loungers, and third connects the amenities on the beach with those inside the complex.

 The complex provides these buildings:

• Residential houses - approximately 40 buildings on area the size of approx. 26,000 m2
• Resort villas - 28 buildings covering an area of approx.17,000 m2

The complex will not only promote tourism in area but also provide employment for its residents, both during the construction phase and later during the operation.
