HISTORICAL BUILDING RESTORATION - BANSKÁ ŠTIAVNICA

Banská Štiavnica is also known for its sloping morphology of the terrain, which creates a specific urban character, mostly with buildings of the original mining settlement.The historic building of the town house in Banská Štiavnica is located in the town's conservation area on a sloping plot of land in a side street away from the main thoroughfares.The construction of the basic mass of the building dates back to 1905, and later on the eastern side was probably completed with an extension with a large glazing. That this is a later addition to the extension is suggested by the change in roof level and the separate roof truss over this part. The building is two-storeyed with an attic and a small cellar.The south-western façade is representative and characteristic of this building, on which we can see several types of decoration, such as cornices, reliefs or bossing.The interior retains the original historical elements, but also shows more modern interventions necessary to meet the basic requirements of life. The first floor is more austere with lower room heights, some with vaulted ceilings. The second floor is more representative, especially with its light height, larger windows and wooden doors.The whole building has undeniable historical value and a specific atmosphere, which is not only due to the building itself, but also the environment in which it is located.
